So I'm up watching bunnytown (which has to be one of the worst web sites ever: flash/all 3rd party/JS) The boy decided that 4am was a perfect time to be wide awake and watch some of his favorite show.

I'm getting tired of this. I have no idea how long it's been since I've slept 8 hours straight. I can tell you it was before he was born though. Even at defcon I had jetlag, though that was still the best sleep I've had in ages.

I've always said my favorite things in life were: sleep, sex and movies. It's amazing how a baby can cut out all three.

so I'm here for my first defcon. This city is insane....in a bad way. It's lit up 24/7 flooded with buffets, gluttony and waste. This city reminds me of a large number of it's residents. Old prostitutes trying to hold on. Keep putting on the make up and perhaps no one can see you're dying

Just as a follow up, I checked out outerz0ne this weekend. I went on Saturday and had a good time. Acidus's talk on javascript hacking was really interesting and I've sat down to learn more of it that I previously knew. It was, of course, great to get back in touch with a lot of my friends from the 2600 scene.

So I got the girls up to watch the lunar eclipse and we all headed outside. It was pretty cloudy at first, but we managed to see it well enough that the girls got the idea. Rhiannon said it was "long". Isadora said that the moon turned brown. I guess I would have liked more :)

Our neighbor had set up his telescope and allowed the girls to look through it. At one point he turned it on Saturn so we could all have a look. I've never seen it before. In fact, I've never seen any astronomical body other than the earth, sun and moon with my own eye (assisted or no). I was really impressed. I mean it was a little dot, but I could definitely make out the rings.

In this case it seems so. I hadn't heard much about the artic ice of late and with some of the record cold spots around the world, I was wondering how it was doing.

It seems to have rebounded quite nicely.

Now, I don't want to jump the gun here. We expect ice to come back and the fact that it went so low during the summer is....bad....

It means that the ice that is there isn't as thick and is likely to be easier to melt.

Many people view global warming as just the summer, but that's not how it works. The overall temperature is going up. That isn't to say we won't have cold winters here and there...

I had a great dream last night. I was at work and My wife, sister in law and her boyfriend all decided to go get tattoos. My mother for some reason picked me up and we stopped at Moe's for lunch. After lunch she dropped me off at the tattoo shop. At some point someone offered to buy is more Moe's, but having just eaten it, they got us ice cream. When it was my turn to get a tattoo, I decided to get a ying yang themed tattoo. Anthony Bourdain was my tattoo artist and he proceeded to go to work. However, instead of doing the tattoo I had requested he put a "Class of 1990" on me with a bunch of year book signatures. Then there was a "Eat at Joe's" bit with a part that looked like an old stamp that said "Hamburgers made fresh daily".

At first I was livid. I didn't even graduate in 1990! The manager came in and assured me I'd be taken care of, but at some point, I realized that it was incredibly funny. So I decided to keep it as is. I showed it to Chava who had about the same thoughts...

Just craziness.
